Stargazing in a Closed Universe
Starlight reflects from my eyes, races to infinity
—at imagination speed
as I wish on meteors
and count coasting satellites.
But
then
the
universe
halts,
contracts;
energy
reverses
back
towards
me,
every
silent
pinprick
light
now
focused
to my widened eyes
and I
am
pinned,
paralyzed,
suffocated
by
the
stars.
